This is My opinion. I have owned about 30 AR rifles. I have built about 210 AR rifles.
When I first started buying and building, I was on one fad or brand, then off to another. This bolt has a coating; this is a forged receiver, Bla Bla Bla. Guess what? Milspec is mil-spec. It is plain jane, but the M16 M4 has served for billions of rounds. They keep working. If you think you will put more rounds down range than a military service rifle will, great. You can buy one made of titanium. In reality, there is not much to improve on. Trigger a must for most. A charging handle for good optics for sure, Good comfy furniture. Yes, and good quality mags. Everything else is BS. It is called custom, but it is not. The AR has become the Little Grils Doll. People dressing up the rifle, calling it custom. We have all done it. If you are a match king shot, upgrade the barrel too.
Don't get me wrong. I have made so many different-looking rifles that I don't know if I can do a new version without custom. Custom make it feel like ours, but most upgrades are nothing more than dress-up. If you want to know what rifle I own, It is an LWRC. Yes, it is a really expensive rifle. There are 2 reasons I sold my favorite "custom" rifle to buy this one, Frist; it has a High-Quality piston gas system, and second, I love the looks of the barrel twist. I pay for looks all the time. I paid for the gas system because I shoot suppressed. It matters. Outside of that, a PSA $300.00 AR15 will do the same. Buy what you like and not what you think is best; unless you will be making a living at shooting, there is no other reason to buy the bling outside of Because I like it.
I am making a custom rifle using a few over-the-counter parts. It will be one of a kind as I have searched to see if someone else has done one. Stop by and say hi, bring your AR in and tell me about it. What you like and if you want, what can you do to make it better because why not spend money making it yours.
Mike.
